Wales lock Adam Beard has won his fitness battle to bid farewell to the Ospreys fans in the United Rugby Championship (URC) derby against Dragons on Saturday in Swansea.

It was announced this week Beard will leave the Welsh side at the end of the season with an expected move to French club Montpellier to follow.

Beard missed the defeat to Cardiff because of injury but has recovered in time for Ospreys' final home game of the season and his last appearance in Swansea before his departure.

Flanker Justin Tipuric, who will retire at the end of the season to become Ospreys defence coach, is missing because of injury.

Dragons flanker Dan Lydiate will play his final game of professional rugby on Welsh soil after being named in Filo Tiatia's starting side.

Lydiate will also retire at the end of the season and become part of the Dragons' backroom team.

Lydiate, 37, starts as one of seven changes for the visitors, with Wales Under-20s wing Harry Rees-Weldon making his debut.

Centre Joe Westwood and forwards Rhodri Jones, Brodie Coghlan, Chris Coleman Joe Davies also start with co-captain Ben Carter missing out because of injury.

Wales hooker Dewi Lake starts for Ospreys, while lock Will Spencer also comes into the home pack.

Ospreys are currently 13th in the URC table and have a slim chance of play-off qualification if they win their final three games.

After this weekend's Welsh derby they travel to South Africa to play Sharks and Lions.

Mark Jones' side are looking to avoid three successive league defeats for the first time since October, having lost to Cardiff and Scarlets in their last two URC outings.

"It is looking like we need three wins from three games," said Jones.

"It is a very congested league table and one win throws you up four or five places.

"We said before last weekend we needed three wins from four matches and now there are only three games left so the maths is pretty simple."

Dragons - who end the season with away games at Stormers and Bulls - are rooted to the bottom of the URC table, 18 points adrift of Zebre after 14 successive league defeats.

Their only victory of the campaign was at home to Ospreys on the opening day of the season and their only previous win in 18 visits to Swansea.com Stadium was a 21-16 success in October 2010.

Dragons head coach Filo Tiatia is returning to face an Ospreys side where he experienced so much success as a player.

"I look forward to going to Swansea, I have fond memories there," said Tiatia.

"It'll be good to see some old team-mates who'll be there.

"It's a great opportunity for us to go to Swansea and play against a very good Ospreys side.

"It's an afternoon kick-off so hopefully both sides' supporters will come down."
