Yesterday Support Local communicated with a massive corporation to start sponsoring as they can see that Support Local is the perfect digital brand that can franchise to spread good and be an ambassador for brands and communities. It may take a couple of months to get it all sorted. Still, I'm really excited as soon the magazine tells business peoples' stories, businesses onboard helping local-based charities be heard and providing events that raise awareness and finance for others we may never meet. Now is the time to join us and be seen and heard as we find our new digital radio station that has global reach and connects all here in Brighton and Hove with opportunities to show how caring for your town works.www.supportlocal.today tells the stories of your business that you send out to your database to reap first those rewards of repeat business. Then as you are sending your story to your clients other businesses involved send you along with them to their databases. Then all those that come on board will be heard around the world, capabilities on Radio Fred and with huge name stars performing soon for Support Local charity events your reach just became even wider.Often doing something for someone else for no other reason than because you can will in time bring you reward not just to your business but to your name as well.So join us and be a part of a new movement started in Brighton and Hove and in months to come franchise to cities across the UK. Do you want to see how you can be seen and heard by just telling your story? Then email andy@supportlocal.today. collaborate, be a leader, lose the ego, lose the fear, and see we are not in competition we are looking to unify.Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead.

Have you, as a charity or social impact organisation, ever considered the benefits of attending networking events?Gone are the days when networking events were predominantly lots of men in suits discussing business over breakfast. The landscape has evolved significantly, shifting from a focus on mere salesmanship to fostering enduring relationships. Despite some people who haven't quite caught up with the times, the ethos is now about connection rather than direct selling. This evolution is particularly important for charities that find themselves repeatedly leaning on the same set of volunteers for every event, or those struggling to make connections with business owners who could evolve into strategic partners. My experiences within various networking groups have shown me firsthand the incredible support that can be extended to charities. This support ranges from fundraising and event organisation to the provision of services at no cost, and even includes group members joining the charities' boards of trustees. In Milton Keynes, for instance, there are numerous networking groups that adhere to a one seat per profession policy, many of which offer complimentary memberships to charities. If your local group has openings, or if you're part of a charity looking to widen your network, I encourage you to share and comment below. This could be a valuable opportunity to forge meaningful partnerships and significantly amplify your impact.

Giving back, paying it forward, making a difference. It's the part of life that I love the most, especially when I get to experience great people, doing good things, working in service of others. Anyone working close to me knows my favourite business saying [Ingrid Ashwin] "....there's nothing like a customer to get you out of bed..." It's been my entrepreneur mantra for as long as I can remember. It still is. I love getting up to do something for someone else, and it's not always about money. Sometimes its just to make someone a cuppa! More recently at The Thinking Company we got to experience getting up for a different kind of customer. Earlier this year one of our UK colleagues Mickey Karen Nel introduced us to Tracey Botha in Cape Town. Tracey is responsible for the marketing and fund raising for The Western Cape Red Cross Society. The Red Cross is the LARGEST volunteer organisation in the world, providing support to people as far back as the late 1800's. WOW! They truly do incredible work and have been a bastion of hope and support for millions of people around the world for over 100 years. Being a fundraiser isn't for sissy's - it's a hard job, asking people for help and money every day. So kudos to Tracey for some great lateral thinking, when she came up with the idea of hosting an auction and running a raffle. We jumped in from the get go offering help with the only thing we thought would have value - a course for the auction and some coaching for the raffle. Little did we know that what we gave would come back ten fold and more before the raffle has even started. In the last month our name has appeared on hundreds of radio ads catching us by surprise in our cars. Our company logo is being splashed on billboards around the country, lined up with great brand such as Grootbos Private Nature Reserve Pick n Pay Harley-Davidson Motor Company (you could win one of those) Fundation and SNL24 not to mention Computicket - who would have thought. 😁 This has been a great lesson in "give and thou shalt receive". Start ups are challenging, fun and risky. We never know which decisions will reap the most rewards. It's just so evident that when we give fully, and with the right intent, we are serving a greater good, and that always comes back to feed us with more. I'm going into this weekend with a deep sense of gratitude for how far we have come and for the people that surround us. Good people, doing great things, in service to others. I hope one day we are seen to be one of those too. If you want to find out more check out the ad on our website. Only R150 a ticket, and no....wait...there's more! 😀 https://lnkd.in/djsJ9PYJ#makeideashappen#thinkdifferently#gratitude#sevantleadership#makeadifference

"Why did I transition your business into a charity?”One of my biggest FAQ's of 2024.Earlier this week I shared the story of what led me to start Youth Leadership Academy Australia. And there were two questions that led to this decision, simialrly there were a few big questions that led to this decision.Throughout COVID times, I made a committment to the team in 2021 that no matter what the cost we would deliever our events because there was no more important time for young people to come together. Over the two years I watched as borders closed and reopened and naviagted density resistractions for a 7 city tour. Despite the financial woos of these two tours, in 2022 we seen the most powerful results and also results that were heartbreaking in relation to the state of young people. Which posed question number 1️⃣: Yes whilst these results are great, the bigger question to anwser was how can we do more. After being rejected by so many different funding bodys for being a business, I decided we will begin the transition to a charity at the end of April 2022. So over the next 18 months we starting building a board, getting the legal stuff done. And then in August 2023, I started having some bigger conversations that were leading to there are more youth orgs popping up now, yet the results are not changing and we seem to be competiting for the same outcomes. Question 2️⃣ Why are we competeting in the space for the same outcomes? And almost 2 years after the idea, in February this year YLAA became a registered not for profit and a proud member of The Youth Impact Foundation.I truly believe the power of one is underestimated. BUT I also believe real lasting and sustainable change is when many individuals come together.*photo: end of a 2022 event where only 15% of attendees could attend because of flooding and COVID and my cortisol levels were peaking*

Happy Friday! Its a good day to reflect on purpose; why we do what we do. With my current role at the Mustard Seed, I see firsthand how strong communities are built by bringing people together. Through events & sponsorship, we see a unique way businesses can get involved in developing our communities, must like the ancient Greeks did. 💡 Mutually beneficial programs and partnerships can create win-win opportunities for sponsors and non-profits. 💡 For those looking to make profit and make a difference, consider how your sponsor dollars are being used to foster social good. *Credit to Elevent for their deep dive on the history of Sponsorship.#sponsorshipforgood #sponsorshipmarketing #socialgood #makeSenseofSponsorship
