2024 is already on its way out the door. The holidays are almost upon us, and with them comes another round of new shows to stream. Prime Video has consistently established itself as one of the greatest streaming platforms because it’s always had something to offer for everyone, and December looks to be no different, thanks to a fresh batch of shows that cater to seemingly every demographic under the sun.

'Pop Culture Jeopardy' - Season 1
Streaming December 4
Everybody loves Jeopardy. That’s just a fact. Yet even after over 60 years and 40 seasons on the air, Jeopardy is still finding new ways to stay relevant, and the latest twist comes this December with the debut of Pop Culture Jeopardy! Hosted by SNL star Colin Jost, this spinoff will focus specifically on popular culture, meaning contestants will be expected to be well-versed in The Avengers, internet memes, Billboard number-one singles, and everything in between.

That’s not the only new twist, however. In a shake-up from the original Jeopardy format, players will now be allowed to compete in teams of three, which opens the door to the show’s long-standing question-and-answer structure getting even more chaotic. All winning teams will compete for a grand prize of $300,000, and the show’s first season will consist of 40 episodes, with three new installments airing each week. Pop Culture Jeopardy begins streaming on Prime Video on Wednesday, December 4, with three new episodes streaming every Wednesday.

If you were a kid in the ‘80s or ‘90s, odds are you had some Lisa Frank merchandise. The new four-part documentary series, Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story, will explore the rise and fall of Lisa Frank Inc., a brand well-known for making school supplies and stickers, instantly recognizable for their neon colors and whimsical illustrations. And yet as quickly as Lisa Frank’s rise was, the brand disappeared almost as rapidly, thanks to a combination of behind-the-scenes drama and the dawn of a technological age.

The series is set to explore the company’s history in depth, delving into Lisa Frank Inc.’s darker heart underneath the bright neon colors and nostalgia. Glitter and Greed will also feature brand-new behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with insiders, former employees, and journalists. Maxine Productions, which produced the hit docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV earlier this year, seems poised to deliver another incendiary expose that will taint the childhoods of many. It’s very possible we’ll never look at a unicorn the same way again. Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story streams on Prime Video on Thursday, December 5.
The Sticky - Season 1

As the saying goes, reality is often stranger than fiction. Case in point: The Sticky, a new series inspired by a bizarre heist that unfolded in 2012. Character actress Margo Martindale (as officially titled by BoJack Horseman) stars as Ruth Landry, a middle-aged maple syrup farmer forced into a life of crime after bureaucratic officials threaten her way of life. With the help of a Boston mobster (Chris Diamantopolous) and a French-Canadian security guard (Guillaume Cyr), she plans a multi-million dollar heist on Quebec’s maple syrup surplus.
In real life, the heist saw over $18 million worth of syrup stolen from the national reserves, and the show promises to deliver a deft blend of comedy, drama, and suspense. Jamie Lee Curtis, an executive producer on the series, is also said to have a crucial guest role. It’s certainly an audacious premise for a show, but it’s also the kind that sounds just crazy enough to work. The Sticky Season 1 streams on Prime Video on Friday, December 6, with all six episodes immediately available.

Secret Level - Season 1
Streaming December 10
Video game adaptations seem to have finally found their creative footing in the last few years (the awful Borderlands aside), and now Prime Video is promising what will hopefully be several different great adaptations in just one show. Secret Level is an adult-animated anthology series created by Deadpool director Tim Miller, and each episode is said to be a self-contained short story set within the world of a popular game franchise. Games confirmed to be in Secret Level include Pac-Man, Dungeons and Dragons, Armored Core, and several different PlayStation-exclusive titles.

It’s a hugely promising concept, made even more enticing because it’s being developed by Miller’s Blur Studio, which was behind the hugely underrated animated anthology Love, Death, and Robots. The voice cast is already stacked, consisting of veteran video game voice actors like Laura Bailey and Hollywood stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt, and Keanu Reeves. All in all, it seems like it’ll be a treat for hardcore gamers and fans of adult animation, and if it’s anywhere near as creative as it sounds, it seems a safe bet that Secret Level could win over converts to both of those audiences. Secret Level streams on Prime Video on Tuesday, December 10, with two new episodes streaming every Tuesday.

Beast Games - Season 1
Streaming December 19
Surprisingly, Pop Culture Jeopardy won’t be the only competition series premiering on Prime Video just in time for the holidays. Jimmy Donaldson, known to the world as “MrBeast,” is currently the most subscribed YouTube content creator worldwide (he even got Hans Zimmer to compose one of his stunt videos), and now he’s expanding his brand into television with Beast Games. Donaldson will be the show’s host, and he’s set to guide a thousand different contestants competing in a series of physical, mental, and social challenges, with only one emerging victorious and winning the grand prize of $5 million.

It sounds like a wild ride, to be sure, but the show has faced scrutiny in recent months. Many have accused Donaldson of fostering an unsafe working environment, and in September, at least five separate contestants filed a class-action lawsuit, insisting they were “shamelessly exploited”. Nonetheless, if that’s not enough to deter you, and if you’re up for an unpredictable experience every week, Beast Games sounds like the kind of show that’d be up your alley. Beast Games streams on Prime Video on Thursday, December 19, with new episodes streaming every Thursday.
